Drones have become indispensable tools across various industries, from filmmaking to logistics. However, as their prevalence increases, so does the need for enhanced safety measures. Enter ‘Emeth,’ the latest innovation from SAES Getters’ Design House.
This ultra-lightweight drone is not only a marvel of aeronautical engineering but also introduces a groundbreaking safety feature: an airbag system powered by Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) technology, specifically Nitinol.

Designed to deploy in under 40 milliseconds during emergencies, such as collisions or water landings, this system minimizes impact damage, protecting both the drone and its surroundings.
Unlike traditional single-use safety solutions, Emeth’s airbags are reusable, lighter, and more efficient, marking a significant shift toward sustainable, high-performance safety in the drone industry.

The drone’s ultra-light frame is crafted using Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF), employing aluminum-magnesium alloys to achieve the strength of carbon fiber at a fraction of the weight.
This design not only enhances durability and performance but also showcases the fusion of art and science inherent in its transparent protective dome, revealing the intricate internal workings of the drone.
With its blend of advanced materials, revolutionary safety features, and thoughtful design, Emeth sets a new standard in drone technology, paving the way for safer and more efficient aerial innovations.
