The Jealous Bunny Who Took Over The House

Tofu wasn’t supposed to be a permanent resident, but life had other plans. It all started when the owner’s friend, a security guard at a club in LA, spotted a rabbit wandering dangerously close to the street.

Afraid the bunny would get hit by a car, he called the owner, knowing she was no stranger to rescue animals. Having already rescued cats, she couldn’t turn her back on the little rabbit.

The next thing she knew, she had a rabbit, Tofu, living in her home.

Initially, she didn’t know anything about caring for a rabbit. She called local rescues, but they were all fully booked.

So, she turned to YouTube, learning the basics of rabbit care. Tofu was hungry and devoured an entire bag of hay when it was offered, which made it clear she hadn’t been eating properly.

Physically, she looked okay, but mentally, Tofu was about to show her new owner just how complex her personality really was. Especially when it came to sharing her human’s attention with the cats.

The Bossy, Jealous Queen Tofu

Life with Tofu started off normal enough. The owner bunny-proofed the entire house, realizing quickly that rabbits love to chew anything they can find.

Tofu managed to eat through several phone chargers and a couple of headphones before the house was fully set up to protect all the cables. Tofu was given four separate living areas throughout the house: one in the living room, another on the second floor, one on the third, and even a space on the patio.

Tofu was living a life of luxury.

But it wasn’t long before Tofu’s true personality started to shine through. While she got along fine with the family’s cats, it became very clear that Tofu didn’t like them getting too close to her owner.

Every time one of the cats would come near to cuddle with their human, Tofu would step in. The moment the cat made a move, Tofu would quickly assert herself, letting the cat know that this was her space. It wasn’t just a one-time thing.

Tofu made it her mission to make sure she was the only one getting attention from the owner.

The cats, probably confused by this new fluffy intruder, quickly learned that Tofu was in charge.

If they tried to snuggle up to the owner, Tofu would chase them away. She even went so far as to make the cats stay out of their own litter boxes, treating them like they were hers.

The owner couldn’t believe it. Tofu was running the household, and the cats seemed too scared to argue. Tofu had firmly established herself as the queen.

But that wasn’t the only thing. Tofu’s attachment to her owner was intense. If the owner was in the room, Tofu was right there, following her every move.

If a cat came too close, Tofu was quick to push them away. Tofu’s jealousy wasn’t just cute, it was comically intense. She wanted all the attention for herself.

The owner found herself constantly having to manage the situation, making sure Tofu got enough love, while also making sure the cats didn’t feel neglected.

As time went on, the owner realized that bunnies are not low-maintenance pets. In fact, Tofu required more attention than a dog.

She needed plenty of space to hop around and explore, a proper diet of hay and veggies, and, of course, plenty of human interaction.

Tofu loved being around her owner and demanded to be the center of attention at all times. If the owner wasn’t paying attention, Tofu would make sure she did by hopping up to her or nudging her until she got what she wanted.

Tofu didn’t just want attention from afar either. She needed to be physically close to her owner. Whether the owner was sitting on the couch, in bed, or at the table, Tofu wanted to be right there with her.

And if a cat tried to join, Tofu’s jealousy would kick in, and she’d push them away. It was funny, but also a little surprising to see just how possessive Tofu had become.

The owner learned to accept Tofu’s bossy behavior as part of her personality. Tofu was like a little fluffy bear, always demanding, always in charge, and always needing attention.

The cats, on the other hand, learned to keep their distance when Tofu was around.

It was clear that she had claimed the owner as her own, and she wasn’t about to let anyone else get in the way.

Living with Queen Tofu

Over time, the owner came to realize that living with a bunny like Tofu was an experience unlike any other.

Tofu wasn’t just a pet—she was the queen of the house, running the show and making sure everyone knew it. Her jealousy over the cats, her need for constant attention, and her strong personality made her one of a kind.

The owner’s biggest takeaway from life with Tofu was that rabbits are not easy pets. They need more attention, space, and care than most people realize.

It’s not just about keeping them in a cage. Tofu had free reign of the house and demanded to be treated as an equal member of the family. And while her jealousy of the cats was something that needed to be managed, it also became part of her charm.

Tofu was bossy, demanding, and territorial, but she was also loving, sweet, and incredibly attached to her human.

Now, Tofu is living her best life, running the household like the little queen she is. The owner wouldn’t have it any other way, even if it means Tofu gets jealous of the cats.

Every day is a new adventure with Tofu, filled with plenty of love, attention, and a little bit of bunny drama.
