Perched above the scenic Australian ocean, the Modscape Cliffside House is the epitome of architectural ingenuity.
Drawing inspiration from Mother Nature, the home hangs off the side of a cliff in much the same way barnacles attach themselves to a ship’s hull.
Rather than acting as an addition to the landscape, this innovative design effectively makes it an extension of the cliff face.
The effect is an undeniable connection between the home and surrounding ocean.
Due to its extreme deviation from convention, the home is constructed using a modular design. Prefabricated modules are stacked on top of each other and secured to the cliff face by use of steel pins.
Residents gain entry into the home using a carport on the uppermost level and make their way down using an elevator. The interior is a minimalist’s dream come true as understated furnishings offer a transcendent view of the surroundings.
Expansive views of the ocean and a focus on spatial features of the property remain the focus of the design with nothing to detract from their visual appeal.
