Ever wished you lived inside a rock? No, us neither, but that was until we saw this incredible, eco-conscious “House Inside A Rock” structure by designer, Amey Kandalgaonkar.
Amey was born in Mumbai and is now based in Shanghai, however, the unique design of this particular house was based upon architecture seen within Mada’in Saleh in Saudi Arabia.
One of the last four surviving necropolis areas which is also a UNESCO world heritage site.
Inspired by these wonderfully innovative, historical builds, Kandalgaonkar set about creating this magnificent home to combine modernity within a natural setting.

As is evident the results are striking, to say the least. This house now appears as if it grew naturally from the rock itself and remains one of the most ingenious architectural feats we have seen to date.

As if its initial design wasn’t enough, this stunning build also includes multiple shaded roof terraces, a swimming pool and a penthouse area!
