Over1.5 billion people worldwide suffer from soil-transmitted diseases. This includes kids that are forced to walk barefoot or in ruined old shoes due to the lack of any alternative.
Apart from being a health risk, the lack of shoewear can interfere with children’s education, family, and social life.
The Shoe That Grows is a non-profit initiative aimed to change that. Made out of compressed rubber and leather, they can last for years. The shoes come in three sizes (small, large, and adult) that can be expanded to 5+ sizes. With tough Velcro, back straps, and front pegs, they can fit almost anyone who needs them.
The Shoe That Grows can be donated for $15 a pair. Because international also constantly looks for partners and travelers who would like to distribute the shoes to those who need them. Even those who simply live or travel to impoverished areas can take this task upon themselves.
